There’s a digital painting meme that has been going around for quite some time. I decided to take part in by painting an image I did last year. I liked it at the time, but now that I look at it, its off. Largely, due to inexperience.

First you will see the image before re-imagining it and then the after.

I did two different Speed Paintings today! I feel productive.

This one came to me just randomly. I think it could have a good story but this image shows only the outcome of that story.

The other speed paint I did today was a quick doodle that took form into a female soldier. You can click below on both to see each in a larger size.

The Movies Computer Game

I was getting nostalgic about computer games earlier today. I remembered one that was super creative. Its called 3D Movie Maker. It came out back in 1995. I was about 10 or 11 (I don’t recall what month I played it) and it had my attention for hours, days, and then months. Sadly, it didn’t last for years because The Sims started leaking information and eventually the game came out.

What was so great about 3D Movie Maker was that you had virtually any genre of movie to create with a large amount of characters and props. You could add your own music and voiceover. Creating your own intro and credits was a blast. I had so many amazing movies made.

Then years later a game came out with a similar concept but brought in the Sims and Tycoon type style to the mix, called, The Movies. You can’t make your movie without playing the actual game, but you’d miss out on a lot! You get to run your own studio and hire anything from janitors to movie star divas with drinking problems.

I’m so happy I found it and am having a blast playing!

Perwinkle and Pink

I’ve realized that I should really start doing daily sketches. Even if they’re not cleaned up to the best of my ability, I know its important to do them.

I worked on this today. It only took me about 20 minutes to do the entire greyscale but when it came to color it took an additional 20 minutes. I got lost in what I wanted to achieve with her.

Since I tend to do very bright colors, I wanted to do something more muted.

I’m thinking about doing speed paint videos soon.

Philia Animation

I loved, I mean absolutely loved this concept. I worked for hours on it. I woke up, brewed a large mug of coffee and got straight to work. Philia just grabbed me and pulled me into her world. She was meant to be a very sarcastic character; along the lines of Daria but less dry and more sweet, I suppose.

This is just a teaser for her story.

I have the story still in very early stages as of now. I do plan on writing out a short story for her one day.

The Creation of haikudasai

I’ve been creating art ever since I can remember. It has been the most amazing way for me to escape from reality at any given moment.

It only came to me last year, 2011, to start doing more digital creations such as: Digital Painting, Flash Animation, and Vector Art. I never realized how amazing and fulfilling it could be. Initially, I started out trying to do animation. It is a true love of mine, either watching or creating. The unfortunate thing about it is, the time. Animation is extremely time consuming for a one person show; more so for traditional hand drawn, omgosh.

I had retired my tablet for a while until late last year and brought it out to try and paint a doodle. I had seen a video of someone on YouTube explaining different brushes. She directed me to DeviantART. I’ve always known about the site but after viewing the paintings by other digital artists, I was blown away! I knew I had to try and achieve that beauty. That I needed to express the emotions through custom created characters by painting them.

I decided to create haikudasai.com to bring my work to a collective outside of an art world. Somewhere where I knew I could have my friends and family (and what if fans!) truly see me for me and how I express even through the design of the site. A place that I could use for professional purposes to obtain my dream of creating through digital art.

I may still be a novice but I would love to take this blog and create a journey, so to speak, on techniques I pick up and share them with you.
